If you are old enough to have voted in 2001 THEY DID ASK YOU. We all had the option of opposing the Patriot Act and the vast majority of Americans supported it. Majority rules. Instead of pretending that this was done in secret, it's time to admit that we ourselves made a bad decision.

I don't applaud him. We the people knowingly elected congress people who supported this in 2001 because we were scared. I agree that we should revoke it. But I don't think this miserable little rat is a hero because he destroyed the defense system that we ourselves created.

We voted this policy into place after 2001. Those of us who are old enough can remember what things were like after 9-11. Now the country has recovered psychologically and we've ready for the Patriot Act to be revoked.

I can't help wondering at the level of panic from people who have never bothered protesting the war on terrorism, have never served in the military, have never donated to any political cause, and often don't even bother to vote. Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

I don't think we should get too riled up until we have the details. I suspect that the press is scandal mongering again. Obviously, the government needs to tell the citizens a little more about what they're doing telephone-wise.
